Don't you love a new year? A chance to start afresh, a chance to make some resolutions, a chance to dream and believe you can start the year over and make those dreams come true!!
For the first time in a long while, I've got goals for the year ahead. Not just resolutions but goals!
Last year I really felt like I found me again! I found my happiness again! I feel like I crawled out of my depressing little pointless life and became more than just mum and wife and rediscovered Trish and found my spark again.
Last year, I got a job as a Tuckshop convener at Somerset Hills State School working 2 days a week. Then I got a job working for a market research company working on a project for Amex, working 3 days per week. Both allowed me to continue being mum while allowing me time to be me, allowed me to earn my own money, contribute something to the world outside of my family and I didn't realize it at the time but actually rebuilt my confidence. I'd started to believe that I was unemployable and that I no longer had anything to offer the working world.
I absolutely loved being a stay at home mum to our children and I am so glad that I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to do so but what I hadn't realized was that Trisha got lost. In the process of trying to be a "perfect" mum and wife (not that I was perfect.....faaarrrr from it!!!) but I was so exhausted playing the part and I didn't know how to ask for help or how to admit that I was sad.
Anyway, I am feeling so positive about a fabulous year this year. As I mentioned...I've got goals! I am buying a new car. I will be going on a cruise with some friends. Our family will be going on a few holidays this year, starting with this Friday when we are heading off on a family driving holiday to Sydney (can't wait to get the cliched photos in front of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge etc!!). We're going to get away more and not just be a slave to our house. The kids are going to help more around the house to help keep things tidy and organized so we can do more together!
We had a fabulous day yesterday. I got Steve a kayak for Christmas and yesterday we went to South Pine river and spent the afternoon there, fishing, kayaking, chilling... The kids enjoyed old style fun - rope swings into the creek, baiting up a fishing line with live worms, swimming in the river, watching fish and turtles and birds. It was fantastic!
I will be getting organised. Enough turning the blind eye to bills, not knowing when they're due to arrive and hopping they get paid before things get cut off! enough having to phone friends to find out what's happening in the kids classrooms. Enough rushing around at the last minute getting things done... Ok, secretly, I love it and thrive on the excitement of last minute so I may not give that up just yet but I'm going to really try to be more organised for my kids, they deserve more than a psycho hysterical mother. They are going to need to pull their weight too but I'm going to have to keep riding them to put things away, tidy up etc so they know where things are and can be more organized too I'm psyched. Maybe I'll get my 'rush' out of being super-organised!!! Lol
I will get active again. I did so well last year losing about 13 kgs but a 'few' have snuck on again... So they're coming off!!! I used to feel guilty about going to the gym etc but more me time makes me a much nicer person to be around and looking after me means I'll hopefully be around on this earth for longer!
I will continue to build new friendships, develop existing ones and rekindle older ones that have slipped by the wayside.
Anyway, life is good. Life is going to continue to be good. Here's to a fabulous 2012 and the beginning of lots more smiles, laughs, happiness and the creation of fabulous memories!!
Love Trish xx
